Personally, I think Takashi Miike is a wildly uneven filmmaker - something that must be unavoidable given his surely unparalleled output (over 70 films in 20 years!) - but it's good to see a director unafraid to constantly explore new genres.
And his new movie is no exception, as PHOENIX WRIGHT: ACE ATTORNEY sees Miike tackle his first videgame adaptation. Here's the trailer...
I'll be honest, I'm not too familiar with the source material beyond the title (my attorney of preference is Harvey Birdman), but it does look interesting - if not a little too reminiscent of SCOTT PILGRIM. Just as long as there's no incest, necrophilia, ejaculation, and nobody starts to lactate during the course of it, count me in.
PHOENIX WRIGHT: ACE ATTORNEY awaits an official US and UK release date, but will open in Japan February 2012.
