The Blacklist is the annual list of the best scripts floating around un-produced in Hollywood. If you paid any attention to last year’s list you will have seen a script entitled CHEWIE at number 3 written by Evan Susser and Van Robichaux. It seemed unlikely to ever get made considering it revolved around the heavily copyrighted character of Chewbacca from STAR WARS and the actor who played him Peter Mayhew. Now it seems the project is a go and even has the support of Lucasfilm.

The logline for this project is “A satirical behind the scenes look at the making of Star Wars through the eyes of Peter Mayhew who played Chewbacca”. FANBOYS director Kyle Newman, a man who clearly loves ‘the trilogy’ will be the man bringing this one to screens. He is developing the project through Inferno Entertainment. Newman has even secured the life rights from Mayhew so he can further develop the script.

Quite who will play the 7 foot tall actor is something of a puzzle but anyone who has seen the deeply flawed but fun FANBOYS will know that the project is in good hands.
