With Scott Cooper recently departing the planned big screen adaptation of Stephen King’s THE STAND, it’s being reported by BadassDigest that Paul Greengrass is apparently in talks to take over directing duties. Greengrass is best known for directing the likes of THE BOURNE SUPREMACY, UNITED 93, THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM and CAPTAIN PHILLIPS. Before Cooper, Ben Affleck was also attached to direct.

The big screen adaptation of King’s famed work has been in discussions for years now, with the scale of the story often proving tricky to develop into a feature film. The same work was previously turned into a TV miniseries back in 1994, which proved moderately successful.

The story of THE STAND revolves around the accidental release of a biological weapon, which leads to the apocalypse and the final battle of good vs evil between the planet’s survivors.

Expect more on this as it develops.
