In-demand comedy screenwriter Etan Cohen (you’ll know his work from TROPIC THUNDER and will soon see whether he’s good enough to save MEN IN BLACK 3 this summer) has landed his directorial debut with BOY SCOUTS VS. ZOMBIES.

Paramount have had this Carrie Evans & Emi Mochizuki penned GOONIES-esque horror/comedy rattling around a dusty drawer since 2010, but since the zombie genre is showing little sign of dying out just yet, they’ve put it back into production and handed the keys to Cohen.

The story, as you can probably surmise, pits a group of plucky boy scouts on a camping expedition against a zombie horde intent on eating the braaaiiiiins of some nearby girl scouts. Zombies aren’t commonly known to be cookie lovers, y’see.

As anyone who’s seen Cohen’s work in the past will attest, he’s clearly a talented fella, so we hope he can bring something fresh to the table here. And with any luck the tired boy saves girl formula will be flipped on its head somehow.

We’ll have more on this as it develops…
