Following on from the recent (and very surprising) casting of Megan Fox as the film’s female lead (the smart money’s on her playing April O’Neil naturally), comes the first news of who will be strapping on the lycra and Ping-Pong balls to portray one of the four ‘Heroes in a Halfshell’ (that’s right, no goofy rubber suits this time around!)…

Step forward Alan Ritchson, who has today been announced as the reboot’s sai-wielding Raphael. Ritchson is probably best known for his role as Aquaman in SMALLVILLE, but come November he’ll most likely be unable to step outside his front door without somebody shouting “OMG!!! It’s Gloss from THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE!”

Platinum Dunes’ NINJA TURTLES will be directed by Jonathan Liebesman (WRATH OF THE TITANS), with Michael Bay overseeing as producer. Expect it to hit cinemas amidst much fan controversy in June 2014.
