Good news for anyone who was as big a fan of X-MEN: FIRST CLASS as we were, the next film in this new continuity starts filming in January!! This is great news, especially considering that although it made money it wasn’t quite the stellar box office hit the studio hoped for despite much love from fans.

There was some sort of stand-off brewing with Fox and Lionsgate squaring up behind their lawyers thanks to the fact that Jennifer Lawrence is now hotter than the sun due to THE HUNGER GAMES and the filming of X-MEN possibly conflicting with the filming for CATCHING FIRE. An agreement has been reached however with CATCHING FIRE still having an autumn start date and Matthew Vaughan returning to the X franchise in January leaving Lawrence free to take part in both movies.

No word yet on what form the next X-Men movie will take or who will be starring along with Lawrence. As long as Vaughan gets to do his thing and doesn’t get the studio pressure that lead to the weak X-MEN: THE LAST STAND then we will all be happy.
