Sure, we’re all tired of remakes, but there’s something about the team behind Warner Bros’ long in development reboot of the 1976 sci-fi classic LOGAN’S RUN that gives us reason to be optimistic – principally the re-teaming of director Nicolas Winding Refn and his DRIVE leading man Ryan Gosling.

Anybody lucky enough to have caught that particular movie will attest to its stunning cinematography, score, and assured direction, not to mention across the board quality performances. Does the news that a third writer has just been hired to rewrite Alex Garland’s (28 DAYS LATER; SUNSHINE) earlier script give us cause for concern? Considering the buzz surrounding Andrew Baldwin’s ‘black list’ script THE WEST IS DEAD and Yakuza picture THE OUTSIDER, nah. In Refn we trust.

Over the last ten years the project has been passed around many directors, from X-MEN’s Bryan Singer to V FOR VENDETTA’s James McTeigue, but it now looks like LOGAN’S RUN has finally found a stable home in the hands of this creative team and should begin sometime in 2012 for a 2013 release.
