Screenwriter Aron Eli Coleite, not content with having recently sold Warner Bros his apocalyptic drama THE END – a multi-stranded tale of characters coming to terms with the impending Armageddon – has today flogged yet another spec script, HELLBENT.
HELLBENT is pitched as a supernatural prison break movie, and although all involved are being coy right now, we’ll make the leap and guess it’s about a guy trying to escape from Hell itself.
The studio behind this month’s IN TIME, and next year’s alien invasion flick DARKEST HOUR (to name but two), picked up the screenplay for a reported mid-six figure sum. But IN TIME didn’t do that well, you say. How can they be affording to splash the cash like this? The DARKEST HOUR looks ok, but how will audiences react when they realise the aliens are just electricity thingies and don’t have space ships n’ stuff? Four words. ALVIN AND THE bloody CHIPMUNKS. Yep, this is the studio responsible for inflicting those annoying little ****ers on us all. BUT… if it helps pay for material like this, then we’re sure it’s worth it. Isn’t it?
Coleite worked his way up to feature films by serving his time on shows such as HEROES, and CROSSING JORDAN. His work will soon be seen on ABC’s intriguing LOST-like show THE RIVER (trailer’s HERE if you didn’t catch it the other day).
Both projects definitely sound interesting, and rest assured we’ll be keeping an eye out for further developments…
