The M1905 website recently conducted some interviews with a whole host of TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION names. Amongst them, there was director Michael Bay and stars Mark Wahlberg and Jack Reynor. What did we learn from these interviews? Well, quite a few new plot points, actually.

The bulk of the chatter has been conveniently broken down into the following points:

There is a robot who speaks Mandarin all the time. He’s Cybertronian in origin.

Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg) is very protective of Tessa Yeager (Nicola Peltz) because of the loss of his wife.

Shane (Jack Reynor) is an Irish race car driver and is Tessa’s boyfriend despite the “no dating” rule by Cade.

Shane saves both Cade and Tessa’s lives very early in the movie and gains the trust of the Yeagers.

Cade Yeager and Optimus Prime become best friends. They both live with their own code of ethics.

Cade must make a choice between his life and his daughter’s where Optimus must make a choice between doing the right thing that must be done and the safety of his own life.

Li Binbing’s character is an owner of a very special “Factory” in China.

Third act of the movie takes place entirely in Hong Kong.

A conference is attacked and the Officials call for help from a special group of individuals.

Right, that’s it. So nothing massively earth-shattering, but at least it gives us a bit more of an idea of what to expect other than just robots-in-disguise unrecognisably wrestling each other in a ball of CGI confusion. Here’s hoping we get some Dinobots news sooner rather than later.

Starring Mark Wahlberg, Jack Reynor, Kelsey Grammer, Stanley Tucci, Sophia Myles, Li Bingbing, T.J. Miller, Han Geng, Titus Welliver, and the freakin’ Dinobots, TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION is set to be released on 27th June, 2014.
