M. Night Shyamalan at one point was being heralded as the next Spielberg, following the success of The Sixth Sense, now fast forward to modern day and the poor fella is considered one of the worst big budget directors around. Shyamalan raised a profile with Sixth Sense, Unbreakable and (to some lesser extent) Signs, but after blockbusting misfires like insomnia cure Lady in the Water, the laughable The Happening and the awkward The Last Airbender, the director has been in search of rejuvenation. Well here’s hoping he finds it with the interesting news of his next project…

Entitled Sundowning, the director’s next film is a departure from big budgets and reportedly only has a cast and crew of 10 people! The news broke over at Shyamalan’s twitter page, when he revealed a production image from the film, as well as posting a series of tweets/pics about the film, at one point stating, “The cast is sensational. The performances were so captivating. I was walking on air as I went home. I hope I don’t screw this up.” One unconfirmed report by the fansite M. Night Fans has stated Bruce Willis and Denzel Washington lead the micro budget production. However whether this is true or not, paint us interested by this swerve into an off-the-radar, scary, experience for this derided but talented (he has done good things!) director.

Sundowning is currently in production, with the release date to be confirmed, stick with Starburst for any further information.
