Okay, we cool? Good.

Remember the scene in AVENGERS when ol’ shellhead had to fly that nuke into space to defeat the Chitauri invasion? Of course you do, it was awesome. It wasn’t so awesome for Tony however, who found himself and his suit pretty ill-equipped for the journey, and it quickly conked out on him. Well, it looks like the Stark of IRON MAN 3 has been busy making sure that never happens again… Behold, the Deep Space Suit armour!

Deep Space Suit Iron Man from Funko

Yep, it would appear that at least one scene in IRON MAN 3 will see our hero boldly go where no billionaire playboy philanthropist has gone before! Now given that at least two of the upcoming Marvel Studios movies are set in space – THOR: THE DARK WORLD and GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY – does this hint at one of those titles being teased here? Will he bump into Thanos on his travels? We won’t know for sure until May 3rd, but it sure is fun to speculate. Adding further fuel to the fire is Robert Downey Jnr. himself, who addressed the notion of cosmic cameos in IRON MAN 3 in a recent interview with EW:

“…everywhere you look now in every Marvel movie there are opportunities where certain new pals of could be useful. So they’re in the atmosphere, so to speak, but I wouldn’t expect to see them on the ground in this one.”

In “the atmosphere”, eh Bob? Very sneaky.
