THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY invited many opinions, but one that didn’t crop up often was “too short”. Nevertheless, there was at least one scene which Peter Jackson managed to cut out, and fans wanting more can check it out below.

This has been released as part of the marketing for the upcoming DVD and Blu-ray release, in which the clip will be restored into an extended version of the film, thirteen minutes longer than the theatrical cut. If that’s still not enough, the disks will also come with a whopping nine hours of extra features – which should be Christmas come early for fans if they’re anything like THE LORD OF THE RINGS’ fascinating making-of content.

You’ll have to wait until 5th November to check out all these features, but for now, enjoy this Rivendell-set clip of Martin Freeman’s Bilbo chatting Hobbits with Hugo Weaving’s Elrond:
