As if things couldn’t get any more exciting, regarding Gareth Edwards’ (Monsters) upcoming Godzilla reboot, today sees an up-roar-ous new poster. The scale of this film, so far, has been grand in every way and we are all hoping for a thrilling testament to Ishirō Honda’s 1954 feature. On this evidence, the spirit of carnage and destruction has arrived with the reptilian big daddy himself. This poster is the literal meaning of simple but effective and is the first real image of big ‘zilla in full, destroy all monsters mode.

The poster is lit with fiery chaos, the main monster stood right in the middle of it all, doing the arrive, raise hell, depart routine that has served the radioactive reptile so well all these years. We think you’ll concur that this looks glorious, much like the trailer that broke a few months back. Edwards seems to have the scale just right and here’s hoping the expected carnage will be scaled in the same kind of themes that made Godzilla the cultural icon he is today. Take a look below.

Godzilla is set to smash through cinemas from the 16th of May 2014 and stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Sally Hawkins and Bryan Cranston. It’ll be nice having Godzilla back where he belongs (in cinemas as opposed to beloved memory) and in 3D (of course).
