Despite the franchise being restarted with 2009’s FRIDAY THE 13TH, Paramount Pictures is once again looking to rehash the Jason Voorhees-centric horror series. This we’ve known for a while. What is new to us, though, is that David Bruckner is apparently in negotiations with the studio to helm this latest restart.

This upcoming FRIDAY THE 13th movie has been heavily rumoured to use the found-footage approach made famous by THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT and recently superbly executed by THE BORDERLANDS. These talks with Bruckner only give further credence to the rumours of a found-footage flick for Jason et al to run around in, seeing as the director is best known for directing one of the segments of V/H/S. Bruckner helmed the AMATEUR NIGHT segment, which involved three guys bringing a slightly hot/slightly crazy girl back to their motel room. It turns out that the ‘slightly crazy’ part is the bit that they really should’ve paid more attention to, as she turns into some beastie, slaughters the group, then flies off into the night.

The last FRIDAY THE 13th effort, directed by Marcus Nispel, is actually one of the better horror remakes of recent years (which isn’t saying much), although it’s global gross of $90 million from a $19 million budget shelved plans for a sequel.

Regardless of Bruckner’s involvement or not, this next FRIDAY THE 13th flick is currently set for a 13th March, 2015 release. And yes, that is a Friday.
