Since Rupert Wyatt recently left his post on the sequel to his 2011 surprise smash hit RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, several filmmakers have been named as possible replacements. Among the likes of Guillermo del Toro (pfft, as if he’s got the time) and LOOPER’s Rian Johnson was Matt Reeves, he of CLOVERFIELD fame and LET THE RIGHT ONE IN remake infamy. Well, he was reportedly the lead contender when that shortlist broke, and now it’s been made official, Reeves will helm the eagerly awaited follow-up for a May 22nd 2014 release. All great and all, but this is seriously going to delay CLOVERFIELD 2 even longer goddammit!

As previously reported, CONTAGION writer Scott Z. Burns is the latest to tackle the script, an apt choice considering the virus cliffhanger of RISE…
