My personal favourite Marvel Studios movie was Joe Johnston’s take on CAPTAIN AMERICA from last summer. The fact that ultimately they had to get Cap into the modern age with the conclusion, in time for this summer’s AVENGERS makes me sad that we won’t see the star spangled man back in his ideal setting of World War 2. However this may not be the case, with further rumblings (read our previous story here) backing up rumours that the producers have a way of getting him back to the 1940s.

The following is to be taken with a huge pinch of salt but actor Neal McDonough who played Dum Dum Dugan in the first movie has been doing press for season 3 of JUSTIFIED and revealed that the plan is to go into production with CAPTAIN AMERICA 2 later this year. He said:

“Yeah they are planning to go into production for Captain America 2 for the end of the year, because Marvel does one film at a time. So they’re going to do Thor 2 and as soon as Thor 2 has wrapped they’ll do Cap 2”

Most enticing of all is when McDonough went on to say the following:

“Hopefully right after that, we’ll jump into Nick Fury because that’s the one I’m looking forward to more than anything…it’ll be me and Sam Jackson. In the Marvel Universe, Dum Dum Dugan is Nick Fury’s right hand man.”

McDonough also goes on to say that the NICK FURY film will be set in the 70s. Bear in mind this is comments from a supporting player, promoting a TV show completely unrelated to the Marvel movies. Could all be wishful thinking or could be true… Like I said, pinch of salt folks, pinch of salt.
