We’ve now seen 20th Century Fox give us X-MEN, X2: X-MEN UNITED, X-MEN: THE LAST STAND, X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE, X-MEN: FIRST CLASS and THE WOLVERINE, with X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST currently in production. Fox’s Marvel Creative Consultant (and long-time Starburst fan) Mark Millar has been speaking to Collider about the studio’s future plans.

Millar said, Marvel sold the X-Men franchises off to Fox back in the ’90s when they had the cash, but you have to remember that they were the crown jewels. The reason they got snapped up is because they were Marvel’s biggest selling books for twenty years. So you’re sitting on a goldmine there. I think there’s a good five to ten golden franchises there.”

Millar gave no details on just which franchises we may see, but he did say, “The idea is just to build everything up quietly, in its own way, and bring in the best possible talent.”

As well as the aforementioned films, Jeff Wadlow is currently working on a script for an X-Force film, and there’s been long-standing talk of Deadpool finally getting a solo outing.

Expect more on this as it develops.
