Director Bryan Singer has announced three more returning mutants for his 2014 sequel, X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. Rogue, Kitty Pryde and Iceman (played by Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and Shawn Ashmore respectively) will join their old friends Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Famke Janssen and Ian McKellen, who will mix it up with the principal cast of X-MEN: FIRST CLASS (Fassbender, McAvoy etc) in a multiple timeline-spanning adventure. While we celebrate the return of these familiar faces, let’s spare a thought for January Jones, who revealed recently she’s heard nothing about reprising her role as Emma Frost. Perhaps this is because her addition would be even more confusing for the audience (who already have to forget that they saw young versions of Xavier and Eric in THE LAST STAND and they definitely did not resemble McAvoy or Fassbender) given that the character has appeared twice already at two different ages – once as a teenager in X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE, and then again the ‘60s set prequel. Or it could just be the fact that Jones was utterly rubbish in the role…

We’ll find out if Singer can somehow make sense of the franchise’s careless canon when X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST is released July 18th 2014.
