Director Bryan Singer revealed last week that 20th Century Fox will be following up next year’s X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST with X-MEN: APOCALYPSE in 2016. Vulture is now confirming that Singer will indeed be back to direct this new apocalyptic X-installment.

The same report also claims that the ending of DAYS OF FUTURE PAST will set up the story of APOCALYPSE. It’s also worth noting X-MEN: APOCALYPSE will apparently focus on the younger characters that were introduced in X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, meaning James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender as Charles Xavier and Magneto, respectively.

Expect to be hearing a lot more on this project going forward. Firstly, though, we’ve got X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST released on 23rd May, 2014.
