At the centre of the news again, Twitter has delivered us confirmation that Christopher McQuarrie is directing the fifth instalment of the Mission: Impossible franchise.

McQuarrie unveiled the news in classy fashion by simply tweeting, “Mission: Accepted”. A perhaps unsurprising choice considering his previous friendship with Tom Cruise on the film JACK REACHER and his renowned rapport with the actor.

Apart from the fact IRON MAN 3’s Drew Pearce is set to write the script, little else is known about the sequel. But no doubt we’ll see the return of Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames as now staple faces of the series. Hopefully McQuarrie can deliver something just as fun as Brad Bird’s MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL, with more incredible set-pieces in swanky locations. Tokyo guys?
