More good news for fans of the increasingly excellent MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE franchise, the newly announced fifth entry has landed an impressive screenwriter in the form of British scribe Drew Pearce. Pearce recently knocked it out of the park with his screenplay for IRON MAN 3 (co-written by director Shane Black) and also provided the script for Guillermo del Toro’s hugely anticipated PACIFIC RIM. Other high profile projects on his slate include the third SHERLOCK HOLMES movie.

Reports continue that Christopher McQuarrie – who most recently worked with the series’ star Tom Cruise directing JACK REACHER – will be the one to wield the camera, with shooting set to begin after the star completes the first part of his second secret agent franchise, Warner Bros’ rebooted THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. flick.

More as it develops…
