As any regular readers know we’ve been following the BEETLEJUICE 2 rumour mill quite closely since the project was first announced as being back in development last x, and what with the recent news that Tim Burton is heavily involved (though hasn’t committed to directing, yet) how could anybody not be excited?

In a recent interview to promote ABRAHAM LINCOLN – VAMPIRE HUNTER, writer Seth Grahame-Smith offered a few updates on the sequel to horror site Shock Til You Drop, the most tantilising of which was an update on Keaton’s involvement. Having previously stated that the movie would not be going ahead without the actor reprising his role, which reassured us all of their integrity, Smith states that they’ve now finally started discussions, and Keaton is very enthusiastic about returning…

“He’s been wanting to do it for 20 years and he’ll talk to anybody about it who will listen” the writer stated, “I really told him, I have a huge reverence for Tim and a huge reverence for that film in general. I don’t think we should do it if we shit on the legacy. He agrees. So, right now, it remains to be seen, I have a couple of story ideas, but we’re very early out.”

Sounds extremely encouraging doesn’t it!

Sadly, there’s a little bit of a wait ahead though, as Seth Grahame-Smith does also go on to say he’s got at least three writing projects to go before he can really start work on the sequel.

As always, we’ll have more on this as it develops…
