As Edgar Wright’s ANT-MAN moves forward at a steady pace, another cast member has been added to the film’s ranks. Deadline is reporting that Matt Gerald has joined the movie in an unknown villain role. Gerald has previously appeared in the likes of AVATAR and G.I. JOE: RETALIATION.

What’s interesting about this casting is that Gerald recently appeared in the Marvel One-Shot ALL HAIL THE KING, which appeared as an extra on the home release of THOR: THE DARK WORLD. That particular short feature focussed on Ben Kingsley’s Trevor Slattery in the aftermath of the whole Mandarin thing. Gerald appears as a burly inmate known only as White Power Dave. Given how Marvel Studios seem to have an intricate plan for the MCU, it would seem strange to see Gerald cast in an additional role. Maybe White Power Dave is revealed to be somebody else? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Regardless of the specifics of the role, Gerald’s villain will join a cast that includes Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, then has unconfirmed roles for Evangeline Lilly, Michael Pena, Corey Stoll and Patrick Wilson.

Directed by Wright, from a script he penned with Joe Cornish, ANT-MAN is set to kick things off for Marvel’s Phase Three of films on 17th July, 2015.
