The Hollywood Reporter has the scoop on some problems for the upcoming MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE reboot. Having had G.I. JOE: RETALIATION’s Jon Chu on board to direct for the last few months, it’s being reported that Chu has now left the project. As for the screenplay, THE LONE RANGER’s Terry Rossio has been brought on to the film to make some rewrites.

The story of MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE focuses on Adam, Prince of Eternia. As He-Man, Adam battles against the evil Skeletor to protect his kingdom. The characters are best known for the Mattel toy line of the early ‘80s, and the cartoon series of the same time. There was also a 1987 live-action film starring Dolph Lundgren and his mullet.

So, by the power of Greyskull, things are not looking good for the reboot at this time.
