In some breaking news, Deadline is reporting that Marvel Studios have finally found somebody to replace Edgar Wright in directing ANT-MAN. Step forward, Peyton Reed. Reed (below) is best known for directing the likes of BRING IT ON, THE BREAK-UP, and YES MAN.

We mentioned earlier today that Reed, along with ROLE MODELS’ David Wain, was in contention for the gig, and now comes word that he will indeed oversee Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, and Evangeline Lilly, Patrick Wilson and Corey Stoll in unconfirmed roles.

After Wright departed the project, ANCHORMAN’s Adam McKay was first offered the job. After he declined, next in line was DODGEBALL’s Rawson Marshall Thurber. After he declined, it was presumed that ZOMBIELAND’s Reuben Fleischer was in the picture. Deciding to focus on fatherhood and potentially GHOSTBUSTERS 3, Fleischer was ruled out. The latest rumours then brought BAD NEIGHBOURS’ Nicholas Stoller, GOON’s Michael Dowse, Wain, and Reed into the frame, with Reed ultimately landing the gig. In addition to Reed joining the film, McKay will actually be involved in assisting on the movie’s script.

Despite this fiasco, ANT-MAN is still scheduled for a 17th July, 2015 release.
