To follow up on the earlier reports of Robert Downey Jr. now being in negotiations to return as Tony Stark, The Hollywood Reporter has some news on possible developments. The site is reporting that Downey Jr. did indeed begin negotiations with Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige last night, and that talks are purely for two more AVENGERS films at this point. IRON MAN 4 is a no go right now, with both parties unsure of their interest in a fourth solo outing for Ol’ Shellhead.

There’s also confirmation of other properties that Marvel Studios are now looking to develop. With DOCTOR STRANGE and ANT-MAN both already confirmed for Marvel’s Phase Three of films, the studio is also developing scripts for a Ms. Marvel solo film, as well as a reboot of the BLADE franchise. The rights to the Blade character recently returned to the studio, not to mention the rights for the Ghost Rider and Daredevil characters. The studio is also looking to get underway with work on Iron Fist, Black Panther and The Runaways films. Talk of an Iron Fist movie have been doing the rounds for years now, so I wouldn’t hold your breath too much on that one.

To add to this, Feige has also been speaking to Collider to confirm some films that we definitely will not be seeing any time soon. Two characters who Feige mentioned by name were War Machine and The Falcon. War Machine was last seen, played by Don Cheadle, in IRON MAN 3. As for The Falcon, Anthony Mackie takes on the role in the upcoming CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER.
