Director Marcus Nispel has a very keen eye for a pleasing visual but sadly not much skill with actors or plot. This is best evidenced in his ill-fated reboots of CONAN THE BARBARIAN and FRIDAY THE 13TH (I still stand by my personal opinion that his TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE remake is actually pretty decent but never mind). Now Nispel is back in familiar territory with a new project based on comic book HACK/SLASH.

The book, created by Tim Seely and Stefano Caselli, follows the adventures of Cassie Hack, a ‘Final Girl’ (the surviving female character from many a horror movie), who kicks clichés in the butt and decides to become a killer of killers. Hack travels the US hunting serial killers (or ‘slashers’ as she calls them), sometimes even running into familiar faces such as Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees, Chucky and Leatherface.

Relativity Media is handling this one, with Stephen Susco (THE GRUDGE remake) on screenwriting duties.

We’ll have more on this as it develops…
