If you thought shoehorning Batman into the MAN OF STEEL follow-up then throwing in a splash of Wonder Woman was a little bit of a rushed, botched job, you’re not going to be too impressed with this. Yes, as the title suggest, Warner Brothers has cast Victor Stone, aka Cyborg, in Zack Snyder’s sequel.

Variety is reporting that relatively unknown stage actor Ray Fisher (above) has landed the Vic Stone gig. The actor was recently heavily rumoured to be joining J.J. Abrams’ STAR WARS: EPISODE VII. It’s expected that this MAN OF STEEL sequel appearance will be purely as Victor Stone at this point, with the Cyborg transformation coming further down the line, obviously paving the way for the character to be a part of the cinematic Justice League that the WB and DC will be establishing.

The character of Cyborg first appeared back in 1980’s DC COMICS PRESENTS #26, although this cinematic offering of Stone will likely be influenced by the modern NEW 52 version. In the NEW 52, Victor Stone is a high school athlete who gets given his powers after an explosion at S.T.A.R. Labs. As a result, he ends up with bionic abilities and ends up becoming one of the founding members of the Justice League. Thing is, for so long, the original Cyborg was a member of the Teen Titans group, meaning certain quarters still associate him as nothing more than a Titan.

Fisher joins a cast that includes Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, and unknown roles for Holly Hunter, Callan Mulvey and Toa Okamoto.

The still untitled MAN OF STEEL sequel is currently set for a 6th May, 2016 release, which will see the movie going head-to-head with CAPTAIN AMERICA 3 at present.
