The IDW comic LOCKE & KEY, created by son of Stephen King Joe Hill along with Gabriel Rodriguez, will be developed as a feature film by Universal. So far the adaptation of the property has had a tempestuous journey. Initially Fox showed a great deal of interest in developing LOCKE & KEY as a television series. They even went as far as producing a pilot directed by Mark Romanek in 2011, but ultimately a series wasn’t given the green light.

The original producers of the pilot, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, will return to produce the supernatural tale. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this series it’s the story of Tyler, Kinsey and Bode Locke who return to their ancestral home following the gruesome murder of their father.

They realise that the house is full of secrets when they start discovering powerfully magical keys. They are not the only ones who know of the keys; a demonic creature known as Dodge is also after the them, with the goal of opening the Black Door, which will allow the demons of hell to enter our world.
