(Actually that headline sounds like we’re talking about some obscure STD… Oh well, too late.)

Vin Diesel fans get your calendars at the ready, for the muscle-bound thesp has revealed via his facebook that the eagerly awaited sequel, RIDDICK (no DEAD MAN STALKING subtitle anymore thankfully), will be hitting US cinemas on September 6th 2013. The vision impaired antihero will also be making his debut in IMAX format. No UK date as of yet, but expect it to hit shortly after. To celebrate, Diesel also posted a new pic of himself in character and writer/director David Twohy. (Twohy’s on the right, don’t let the weaponry confuse you.)

Riddick’s back! (Not to mention his rather ladylike front.)

For those that haven’t been keeping tabs, here’s the skinny on what you can expect…

Synopsis:

Diesel reprises his role as the antihero Riddick, a dangerous, escaped convict wanted by every bounty hunter in the known galaxy. The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he’s encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty.

The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won’t leave the planet without Riddick’s head as their trophy.

Other notables joining Diesel for some R-rated adventure are genre favourites Karl Urban (LOTR; STAR TREK; DREDD) and Katee Sackhoff (BATTLESTAR GALACTICA; THE BIONIC WOMAN).

Right, we’re off to the doc’s to get these Riddicks looked at. They’ve begun to weep.
