Former WITCHBLADE Yancy Butler (below) is the latest to be confirmed as returning, joining Aaron Johnson (Kick-Ass/Dave Lizewski), Chloe Grace Moretz (Hit-Girl) and Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Red Mist) for Jeff Wadlow’s sequel, which will be set several years after the events of the first.
For those who are a bit fuzzy on the 2010 original, Butler played the wife of Mark Strong’s now very dead mob boss Frank D’Amico, and is the mother of Chris D’Amico, aka Red Mist (or The Motherf--ker as he is known in the comic book source).
* In other casting news, Donald Faison, star of the insipid NBC comedy SCRUBS (knock it off with the re-runs, e4!!!), is in negotiatons to appear as a fellow masked avenger, Dr. Gravity.
Faison, following Butler's lead
Kick-Ass and Mr. Gravity
* John Leguizamo (probably best known now, sadly, for voicing Sid the Sloth in the ICE AGE series) has also joined the cast as one of the Red Mist’s bodyguards.
The London shoot kicks off in September, with the film scheduled for release, as the above teaser poster promises, sometime in 2013.
And we remember a time when this flick looked doomed to ever get off the ground!
