Whilst it was last week confirmed that Kevin Smith’s TUSK wouldn’t make it to next year’s Sundance, as once hoped, The Wrap is now reporting that Smith’s sinister horror has found itself a distributor. Taking on these duties, we have A24 and Demarest Films.

Initial shooting on the film finished back on 22nd November, but there’s two additional days’ worth of shooting to take place over the next few weeks. Smith also recently described the bizarre tale as career-best work for both Michael Parks and Justin Long. For Parks, that’s quite the statement. For Long, not so much so…

TUSK centres on the relationship between a man and a sea beast. Parks plays a guy that was once lost at sea and became bestest buds with a walrus, so much so that upon being rescued his life had a big gap to fill. Returning to land, Parks character puts out an advert for somebody to come and live with rent-free. The only catch? This particularly tenant has to dress up and act like a walrus at certain times of the day. Justin Long plays a podcaster who is tasked with interviewing the strange old seadog. Things all then take a turn for the sinister.

At present, the current plan is to release TUSK towards the second half of 2014, although a trailer is expected to play at next month’s Sundance Film Festival. Here’s hoping that we UK folks get to see a release somewhere down the line, and a Q&A screening would be even nice. A guy can hope, right?
