It’s been a hell of a long time coming, but it looks like things might finally be back on track in the world of the dinosaur franchise, with the announcement that the upcoming four-quel will be known as JURASSIC WORLD, with a U.S. release date of June 12th 2015.

No plot details have been released, but the title hints at a larger scale than the largely island-bound antics of the previous three installments. From the title, and the fact that the writers of RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES had a early pass at the script, we’re guessing that it’ll take place in the far future when dinosaurs once again rule the Earth and the remaining humans are treated as slaves by their dino masters (no we aren’t – Ed).

June 2015 of course puts it slap bang in the middle of what’s shaping up to be the busiest summer ever. With new installments of STAR WARS, THE AVENGERS and pretty much every major franchise going landing around then, director Colin Trevorrow’s going to have his work cut out. Our advice? T-Rex. Lots of T-Rex. And Sam Neill obviously.

After years of rumours, bizarre scripts about dino/human hybrids and, just as they were finally about to go into production, a year’s delay while they ironed out various script problems, it looks like this is finally, definitely going to happen. After two less than inspiring sequels, could we finally be getting the dino-action we’ve been waiting for? As a great man once said, “Jurassic Park!”
