It’s somewhat surprising that since JURASSIC PARK 4 was greenlit for a Summer 2014 release earlier this year, there’s been virtually zero speculation as to who will take the place of Spielberg and Joe Johnston. We didn’t have to write a single story about David Fincher / Matthew Vaughn / John Favreau / Joss Whedon / J.J. Abrams being in negotiations for the gig, nor did we have to report on that juicy rumour Kevin Smith had been approached to do the script. Bit disappointing really.

Today comes confirmation that the director’s chair on the hotly anticipated sequel will be occupied by the arse of Colin Trevorrow, he of the 2011 indie time-travel comedy SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED…

For what it’s worth, here’s a pic of Trevorrow’s face.

Now SNG doesn’t particularly showcase Trevorrow’s ability to handle such an action-heavy blockbuster-type project like this, but Hollywood must be privy to something we’re not, as Disney also hired the filmmaker to remake beloved childrens’ sci-fi adventure flick FLIGHT OF THE NAVIGATOR and turn it into a potential franchise.

Trevorrow is an interesting choice, but there’s very little evidence as to whether it’s a good choice. We can’t wait to find out though!

JURASSIC PARK 4 is scheduled to hit cinemas June 14th 2014.
