Just when things had gone a little quiet on Kevin Smith’s TUSK, now comes word from The Wrap that Hollywood superstar Johnny Depp has joined the walrus-heavy horror.

No exact details are yet known on Depp’s role, although it’s believed that he will be playing Guy Lapointe, a French-Canadian detective that is looking into the disturbed events that unravel throughout the film -. namely, a man trapped in a walrus outfit. Smith has previously talked about his excitement at landing a huge name for a small, key role in TUSK, and it now appears that Depp is his man. So small, in fact, was the role, it’s said that Depp wrapped his scenes in just 2 days.

The basic premise of TUSK revolves around a man and his walrus. When Mr. Howe (Michael Parks) returns from being stranded at sea with a walrus, he misses his bestest pal. So much so, he throws out an advert for somebody to come and live rent free with him. The catch here is that said new roomie must dress and act like a walrus at certain moments of the day. We pick things up with a journalist called Wallace (Justin Long), who sees this story as sure-fire hit for him. Of course, things then begin to take a turn for the sinister.

Also featuring Genesis Rodriguez and Haley Joel Osment, TUSK is currently scheduled for a release towards the end of the year.
