Back in March we brought you news that horror director Alexandre Aja (he of SWITCHBLADE ROMANCE fame and MIRRORS infamy) would be handling Warner Bros’ adaption of Image Comics’ 2011 title, UNDYING LOVE, a China set story of ex-soldier John Sargent who falls for a vampire, and must go on a mission to kill the creature that sired her in order to turn her back. Problem is, this uber-poweful bloodsucker has the whole of the Hong Kong supernatural underworld at his disposal. High stakes indeed! (Sorry.)

Cut to the present, and the brothers Warner still have the project on their To Do list, but have found a replacement director in the form of Joe Carnahan (THE GREY). Carnahan will also be providing a new draft of the script, which was previously written by the comic book’s creators Tomm Coker & Daniel Freedman.

While it’s not clear as to why Aja left the project, it probably had something to do with the chance to do a high-profile Daniel Radcliffe horror flick instead. The adaptation of Joe Hill’s HORNS is set for a 2013 release.

More on UNDYING LOVE as it drops…
