Joe Cornish, the ATTACK THE BLOCK filmmaker and British comedy legend, was recently rumoured to be replacing J.J. as director of Paramount’s rebooted STAR TREK series. Simon Pegg confirmed that he was in the running, and now Abrams himself (who will only be producing from here on in) has broached the subject too, telling MTV

“I don’t know if Joe Cornish is the guy. My guess is that’s up in the air. I adore him and love him and can’t wait to see what he does next. Hopefully it will be STAR TREK. Whatever it is, he’s brilliant. ATTACK THE BLOCK was one of my favorite movies of the year when it came out.”

So J.J. thinks he’s a good fit for the franchise, what say you guys?

We’ll next see Cornish’s work in ANT-MAN, which he co-wrote with his old pal Edgar Wright. STAR TREK 3 will hit cinemas sometime in 2016.
