Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have written some of the best comedies of the past five years including SUPERBAD, PINEAPPLE EXPRESS and the forthcoming NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH. For a long time now the duo have talked up a comedy entitled JAY AND SETH VS. THE APOCALYPSE, now Sony is negotiating with the two of them to finance and distribute the film which they would co-direct.

The premise of the film finds Seth Rogen and Jay Baruchel playing themselves as they witness the apocalypse from their apartment in Los Angeles. Regular collaborators James Franco, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride and Craig Robinson are all planned to appear, with some of them playing themselves. The film is said to be “an offensive version of the apocalypse”, whether that means it’s super violent or just politically incorrect is not yet known.

I have loved the output of this group of comedians thus far and the idea of them taking their brand of comedy into meta fantasy territory is very pleasing to me. Hopefully the deal with Sony will be finalised quickly so we can see the finished film sometime in 2013.
