Ok, so we weren’t really sure whether we should even cover this , but we’re guessing that like (most of) us here at Starburst HQ there’s quite a few of you who are fans of the wonderful HBO show FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS, and this news was just too delicious to pass up…

It’s been long rumoured, and also regularly debunked, but today comes solid confirmation that a movie version is officially in the pipeline.

Talking on New Zealand radio station George FM, Rhys Darby, aka the Conchord’s blundering manager Murray Hewitt, had this to say:

“I can say in all faith that we have connected, recently we’ve talked, and the boys do want to make one so it’s just a matter of finding time and I think next year pen will hit paper.”

With creators Brett McKenzie & Jermaine Clement having ended the show after two excellent seasons, a movie is the natural progression for their brand of comedy.

If all goes to plan we can expect to see FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS back on screen sometime in the year ‘two thoouuusand’. And thirteen.
