As reported previously, Marvel Studios have IRON MAN 3 and THOR 2 scheduled for release in 2013 with CAPTAIN AMERICA 2 in April 2014. Marvel president Kevin Feige has previously indicated that there would be another ‘mystery movie’ released in 2014 and speculation has been rife. Would it be Edgar Wright’s long planned ANT-MAN or DOCTOR STRANGE? Speculation even went more obscure with GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY being touted as a possibility. Now supposedly its being whispered that the hero coming next to play in the Marvel movieverse is… BLACK PANTHER!

For those who don’t know, BLACK PANTHER is about a man from the fictional African nation of Wakanda named T’Challa. He becomes the king and inherits the title of Black Panther which entitles him to consume a special herb which gives him acute senses and increased strength and agility. In addition T’Challa is something of a genius with a degree from Oxford University and is considered to be one of the 8 smartest people on the planet and is skilled in African martial arts.

Clues have been laid in previous Marvel movies if you know where to look. Wakanda appears on a map in IRON MAN 2 and Vibranium, the material that constitutes Captain America’s shield also comes from the country.

I’m not that familiar with the character and his enemies etc but it sounds kind of like an ethnic Batman. Let the casting speculation commence!
