It could be argued that Robert Downey Jr. has become the face of the hugely successful Marvel movie universe. Certainly Downey Jr.’s portrayal of Tony stark and his metal clad alter-ego will have cemented his status as a top box office draw, which Marvel must surely be keen to retain.

Well according to Superhero Hype that might well be the case as, although Downey Jr. has yet to formally negotiate a new contract to appear in any more Marvel movies, an agreement could be imminent.

Marvel Studios’ boss Kevin Feige, also had this to say: 

“Currently, as you may imagine, Iron Man is a big part of Avengers 2 and that’s what we’re focusing on and what Joss is focusing on. So where we go after that remains to be seen, but certainly, Avengers 2 being the next appearance, the next storyline for Iron Man.

Do I think there will be another Iron Man movie? Of course I do. Who will be in that movie and who will be a part of that movie? Who knows? And how far down the line will it be? Will it be right after Avengers 2, will it be a few years after Avengers 2? Who knows?”

I suspect that we will have an announcement following this weekend’s US opening. And I think we all know what that will be don’t we?
