It’s a Damon-y time of year.

He’s currently all bald-headed and fabulous in Neill Blomkamp’s ELYSIUM and he recently went on record to defend his BFF Ben Affleck as the new Batman (as well as crush the fan-art of billions by quashing any Robin rumours).

Now it’s been announced that Damon will be joining nearly every other actor in the realm on Christopher Nolan’s INTERSTELLAR. He’ll be joining the shoot for two weeks, likely meaning his will be a smaller role and… that’s literally everything we know right now.

Nolan’s a secretive type of man and INTERSTELLAR is proving to be a secretive type of film with a small plot synopsis – a group of space-based explorers uncover the secrets of time travel when they encounter a wormhole – being all that’s been revealed about the sci-fi flick thus far.

Oh, and it’s chunky cast currently boasting of Matthew McConaughey, Michael Caine, Jessica Chastain, John Lithgow, Topher Grace and Casey Affleck among many more. George Clooney, Kevin Bacon and Tommy Wiseau are all expecting their call-ups tomorrow.

What’s the betting that Nolan’s playing us all for false and is instead working on INCEPTION 2 where Dom Cobb, bored of dream-based espionage, opens a sleepy Café in Durham, cue crazy hijinks as he engages his rival baker Michael Caine (played by Christian Bale) in an escalating collision of one-upmanship. In space.

Anyway… in other news, Damon has seemingly managed to put together his directorial debut A FORIEGNER, adapted by ARGO screenwriter Chris Terrio from David Grann’s 2011 New Yorker article ‘A Murder Foretold.’ The true story follows a man shot down during the mounting violence in Guatemala who leaves behind a videotape after his death implicating the president, his wife and aides in his murder.

After previous directorial chances fell through for him – including PROMISED LAND – it’s good to see Damon finally given the chance to get himself behind the camera.
