What with George Lucas retiring from making large scale movies to concentrate on smaller projects (though when we’ll ever see one of those is anyone’s guess), Spielberg’s busy schedule and Ford’s advancing years (71?! Wow!), it’s increasingly unlikely we’ll ever get to see a fifth adventure for Indiana Jones. Yet Harrison Ford continues to speak highly of the property, expressing much interest in reprising the iconic role again. Today, the star has been speaking to The Telegraph, offering some interesting thoughts on a possible new movie:

“We’ve seen the character develop and grow over a period of time and it’s perfectly appropriate and okay for him to come back again with a great movie around him where he doesn’t necessarily have to kick as much ass. To me, what was interesting about the character was that he prevailed, that he had courage, that he had wit, that he had intelligence, that he was frightened and that he still managed to survive. That I can do.”

Now as an unashamed fan of INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL (I know, I know; sure it has its flaws, but so did THE LAST CRUSADE) I’m personally hoping that the trio of Lucas, Spielberg and Ford can actually get in a room together and get this film locked down before it’s too late. There’s every chance they can learn by their mistakes (easy on the CGI gophers this time, okay guys?) and deliver an Indy flick that can send off the beloved character in style, and win back the CRYSTAL SKULL detractors.
