After many years of speculation over whether we’ll ever get to see those Apple-phobic alien invaders exact their revenge upon the human race, 20th Century Fox have finally greenlit INDEPENDENCE DAY 2! No concrete details about creative team, plot, cast, or whether those vicious space shits have learnt how to use Norton Antivirus yet, but the studio have announced the release date:

July 3rd 2015 – a full nineteen years (gulp) since the original’s debut!

What with STAR WARS EPISODE VII, ANT-MAN, TERMINATOR 5, THE AVENGERS 2, THE FANTASTIC FOUR and MAN OF STEEL 2* to name but a few of the tentpole releases, 2015 is shaping up to be one hell of a year for genre cinema!!! Oh, and PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 5 comes out that year too.

*Don’t believe that 2014 nonsense; not possible.
