…But we on the other hand, love ’em!

Shooting is in full swing on comic book adaptation I, FRANKENSTEIN, and the first look at Aaron Eckhart as the titular monster is in.

Check it out below…

Ok, so as you can see it’s quite a departure from the look at the comic, but we’re willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. Sexing the character up a tad will obviously help the box office (it’s likely to need it), and we doubt the it will incite ‘nipples-on-the-Batsuit’ levels of rage from many fans of the source.

For those unfamiliar, I, FRANKENSTEIN is a new take on the classic story which reimagines Mary Shelley’s creation as a P.I. caught up in a war between humans and a rising army of supernatural beasties, intent on harnessing his secrets for evil.

The movie is the second directorial gig for Stuart Beattie (WHEN THE WAR BEGAN), but his screenplay chops are formidable indeed, having written such hits as the original PIRATES OF THE CAREBBEAN, G.J. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA, 30 DAYS OF NIGHT and COLLATERAL. The original comic book is written by UNDERWORLD actor Kevin Grevioux, who also had a hand in the first draft of this version.

Fleshing out the cast are Bill Nighy, Yvonne Strahovski (CHUCK), Jai Courtney (SPARTACUS: BLOOD AND SAND) and Mirando Otto (LORD OF THE RINGS).

I, FRANKENSTEIN shuffles its way into our multiplexes February 22nd 2013.
