Hugh Jackman has been officially confirmed for the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past by director Bryan Singer, who announced the news on Twitter:

@BryanSinger: I would officially like to welcome @RealHughJackman to the cast of #Xmen Days of Future Past. Very excited!  More to come…

It’s the seventh time Jackson has played the character, following the original X-Men trilogy, dire spin off X-Men Origins: Wolverine, a cameo in First Class and upcoming solo adventure The Wolverine, due for release next year.

Jackman joins other original X-trilogy alum Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen,

as well as returning First Class cast members including James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence and Michael Fassbender.

X-Men: Days of Future Past opens in UK cinemas July 18th 2014, while The Wolverine bows July 26th 2013.
