Before you go any further, be warned that these could be some pretty major spoilers for the upcoming BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE.

Over the last few weeks, a few stories have appeared online showing some form of Superman statue that will be erected in Metropolis (yeah, the same city that the Boy Scout nearly levelled). Now comes some rather revealing images that have appeared on Michigan movie blog The Banana Doc. What’s interesting about them is that they seem to show said Superman statue in ruins, with civilians placing flowers at the scene and seemingly making it into some sort of memorial site. Could it be possible that we’ll see some sort of ‘Death of Superman’ arc woven into BATMAN V SUPERMAN?

Now, of course, an actual ‘real’ death for Supes is pretty unlikely, a) because he’s freakin’ Superman, b) because this is a comic book movie, and c) DC and Warner Bros. have already got a slew of further films planned for the future, with JUSTICE LEAGUE and a MAN OF STEEL sequel both clearly needing the Big, Blue Boy Scout. Still, it looks as if we’re going to be getting some sort of Superman death tease in Zack Snyder’s movie. Could it be a case of maybe those long-rumoured Doomsday rumours coming true? Given how BATMAN V SUPERMAN and JUSTICE LEAGUE will be shooting back-to-back, could it even be the cast that the above images may actually be part of JUSTICE LEAGUE?

So this Batman/Superman mash-up is set to feature the Dark Knight, the Man of Steel, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Aquaman, and now possibly a ‘Death of Superman’ angle? Yeah, because the film wasn’t really looking full enough as it is…

BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE is currently set for a 6^th May, 2016 release.
