Following on from yesterday’s story that saw MAN OF STEEL director Zack Snyder acknowledge that his take on Superman will be the first in DC’s integrated movieverse (ala the Marvel Studios model), comes a rumour sure to delight and infuriate, in equal measure, fans of Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy.

Though Nolan and co. went to great pains to cement the caped crusader in a ‘realistic’ universe, one devoid of all the super-powered wonders that the real DCU has to offer, a story broke by HitFix has sent movie sites into meltdown – seems they have the inside skinny that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is being primed to don the cowl for Warner Bros.’ 2015 JUSTICE LEAGUE movie. Not only that, but it heavily hints we could be seeing JGL make his debut as Bats next year, in a cameo appearance in MAN OF STEEL. Of course, before any of us get too excited/annoyed (delete as applicable) this is only speculation at this point. But as we’ve said before time and again, it would certainly make a lot more sense for Warner Bros. to build on Nolan’s universe rather than reboot it. It simply wouldn’t gel with mass audiences – a lesson Sony learned earlier this year with THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN. Sure, that movie earned a gazillion dollars at the Box Office, but it certainly fell short of what they were expecting. To ask cinemagoers to accept a new Batman so soon would be a bad move indeed. Have they seen sense? Time will tell…
