And the SIN CITY casting news continues! For those not keeping up, in the last two weeks Robert Rodriguez’s sequel to his excellent 2005 adaptation of Frank Miller’s seminal comic book series has so far added Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Josh Brolin, Chris Meloni, Jeremy Piven, Juno Temple and Ray Liotta to its roster. Now we have confirmation that Bruce Willis will reprise his role of one of Basin’s few non-corrupt cops, John Hartigan. Shooting has already begun on the film, with Rodriguez taking advantage of the green screen-only set and having actors pop in as and when they become available, regardless of whether or not the other actors in the scene are present. (Jaime King, returning from the first, has already wrapped all her scenes – acting against “a roll of tape, and a hand” she told MTV last week.) Ordinarily we’d be horrified, but it worked for the first film, so it gets a pass.

Along with the Willis news, today’s other SIN CITY tidbit comes courtesy of Rodriguez himself, who describes to MTV (again) what we can expect from Levitt’s newly created character…

“He plays a gambler, a very cocky gambler who comes in and tries to beat the biggest villian in Sin City at his own game. The story is called ‘The Long Bad Night.’ He beats the wrong guy in the game. Bad stuff happens to him. Bad stuff.”

Roll on October!

Returning from the original movie are Mickey Rourke (Marv), Rosario Dawson (Gail), Jessica Alba (Nancy) and Jaime King (twins Goldie and Wendy).
