Another day, another Harrison Ford news story. Following yesterday’s news that the 71 year old actor is keen to make a fifth outing as the world’s favourite archaeologist (that’s Indiana Jones, not Time Team’s Tony Robinson. He’s obviously played by Baldrick, not Ford) comes the rather more surprising news that he’s joined the cast of EXPENDABLES 3.

The news was announced via Twitter by star/writer/only person in the world who actually cares about Expendables 3 Sylvester Stallone, who also announced that the “greedy and lazy” Bruce Willis was out. Not that we want to pick an argument with Sly, but some (definitely not us) might suggest that constantly turning out sequels to a movie that was, to be honest, complete crap was pretty much the dictionary definition of “greedy and lazy”. And that’s before we mention flogging the Rocky/Rambo franchises to death instead of attempting something vaguely original.

Expendables 3 will be out, if you’re remotely bothered, in August 2014. Besides Stallone and Ford, it stars lots of people who can’t get a theatrical release in anything else, namely Jason Statham, Terry Crews, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Mickey Rourke, Wesley Snipes and Milla Jovovich. Not to mention possibly Arnie, if he’s got time in-between milking his old franchises to death as well. Hey, it’s either this or making movies for The Asylum.

Ford, who really deserves better than this, will be back on our screens in ENDER’S GAME in October. At least if he’s saying yes to stuff like this, there’s no chance of him turning down STAR WARS over the quality of the script.
